  • Support the University of Phoenix’s direct assessment strategies.

Our Approach

OES Learning Solutions delivered unbundled (OPX) services, including instructional design, course building, QA (WCAG), and complete project management. As experts in course migration and adaptation, our Learning Team focused on creating a Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework for asynchronous learning.

 

Working closely with faculty, the team reordered existing resources to support a primarily self-directed learning experience with minimal instructor involvement. Additionally, we collaborated with contract SMEs to develop pre-assessment (Knowledge Check) questions aligned with the competency framework’s mastery levels.

 

Since the project didn’t require media production, OES optimized the use of readings and ensured Learning Tool Interoperability (LTI) for all supplied videos. The platform was designed to allow learners to follow a non-linear path, selecting competencies, tracking their progress through knowledge checks, and advancing through modules until they mastered all competencies in a final quiz.

Outcomes

Innovative Assessment Strategies: The project enabled significant advances in the University’s assessment strategies, further aligning course content with learning outcomes.

 

Optimized Competency Alignment: Courses were realigned with scaffolding competencies, improving the learning experience.

 

Accreditation Support: OES ensured that all curricula met the stringent standards required for accreditation.
