These lessons covered a range of production topics, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">the visual style guide,<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">design principles,<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">scripting,<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">various video formats,<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">setting up a green screen, and<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">media training on how to be comfortable and speak confidently in front of the camera.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This in-person training was highly beneficial as the lessons were interactive, and everyone had time to practice and implement what they had learned. I found that this training is also a sustainable way of learning as we were able to help, advise, practice, and redo in real-time.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It was also really satisfying to watch everyone discuss what they have learned, how they solved problems, and have fun during the training!\u00a0The result was that lecturers acquired a production skill-set they could implement in their own edtech courses.<\/p>\n<p>It reminds me of the quote by Thomas Carruthers, \u201cA good teacher is one who makes himself progressively unnecessary.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/oes.com\/us\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Untitled-design.png\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/constructeducation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Untitled-design.png?w=400&amp;ssl=1 400w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/constructeducation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Untitled-design.png?resize=200%2C300&amp;ssl=1 200w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/constructeducation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Untitled-design.png?resize=370%2C555&amp;ssl=1 370w\" alt=\"Construct in Rwanda Gallery\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>During our time with the VVOB team and University of Rwanda lecturers, we learned that when it comes to media training, a practical on-site approach ensures the skills are being immediately implemented and practiced alongside fellow learners.<\/p>\n<p>Gert and I were also fortunate enough to spend time exploring a few of Rwanda\u2019s museums and galleries, and experience the delicious cuisine.<\/p>\n<p>Professionally, it was great to interact with the lecturers and meet the <a href=\"https:\/\/rwanda.vvob.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">VVOB Rwanda<\/a> team in person\u2014our main points of contact, Loran Pieck and Sara Vermeulen, were so warm-hearted and accommodating.\u00a0Our time spent in Rwanda was an opportunity to build a stronger relationship with a longstanding partner, VVOB.<\/p>\n<p>We look forward to future projects where both OES and VVOB can work together to fulfill our visions of unlocking opportunity by creating quality education for all.<\/p>\n<p>This blog post is made available by the author for educational purposes only and to provide general information.
