Meet the experts

Dr. Tawnya Means is the Assistant Dean for Educational Innovation and Chief Learning Officer at the Gies College of Business, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. With over 20 years of experience in higher education, course design, and educational consulting, Tawnya has led teaching and learning teams and taught residential, online, and blended courses in entrepreneurship, strategy, technology, and leadership in remote teams. Her research interests include online and blended learning, active learning, learning space design, technology innovation in teaching, access to digital learning resources, generative AI for education, and faculty preparation to teach.

Tegan has been part of the award-winning Learning Design team at OES for the last six years. In her current role as Lead Learning Designer, Tegan draws on research, data analytics and user experience to achieve best practice learning experiences through innovative solutions. Tegan brings a wealth of experience, from teaching across secondary, tertiary and TAFE contexts in Australia, to designing immersive, interactive online and blended courses for OES’s partners, and previously leading OES’s simulations and virtual reality services. Tegan is passionate about designing learning experiences that not only work for the learners, but academic and professional staff as well.

Haanim Galvaan is a Learning Architect and a valued member of the Construct Learning Design team, having driven learning design projects for prestigious institutions such as the University of Michigan and Georgetown Law. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Music, Musicology, and Ethnomusicology and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Cape Town. Haanim specializes in program development, learning architecture, and strategy.

As the Lead Learning Designer at OES, Jesse leverages his expertise in online pedagogy for adult learners and the technical capabilities of LMS systems to implement best practices in online learning, particularly in the postgraduate space. With a teaching background in International Education, ESL, and Learning Design, Jesse has supported tertiary education institutions in four countries. He is passionate about influencing assessment design and content development, using workshops to promote best practices based on the latest research in online pedagogy, and constantly experimenting with new technologies to enhance student engagement.
